How to Promote the TAOLB YouTube Site  (works the same for any other Open Studio group)

Here are some steps you can take to help promote the TAOLB YouTube Site.  The better known the site is, the more viewers will come and watch your stories and see your art. The way to do it is to create a lot of activity on the site which will help it rise to become a Youtube Featured Group.  This could help the TAOLB and your art gain national exposure. It's in your hands. Here are the steps to do it.

1. Register  for Youtube
2. Log on to Youtube
3. Join TAOLB Group
4. Post comments at the bottom of the group page. 
5. Check back periodically to the group page and respond to others posts
6. Click on each persons video
         A. give each video a star ratting, preferably 5 star.
         B. post short comment in the comment section.
        C.  post a note on your videos asking viewers to leave a message.
7. Check back on your own videos and respond to peoples comments
8. Ask your friends and family to go through this process to post comments and rate videos..
9. Link to the group from your webpage
10. Promote the site, hand out flyers at events with the url on it. Here are some sample flyers.

Detailed Instructions are below:

Goal: get on the Youtube home page as an Active Group!

The goal is to get on the Youtube home page in the Active Groups section.  This will drive a lot of traffic to the group and people will see your stories and learn about TAOLB! This is on the lower right corner of the Youtube home page. http://youtube.com/
I've circled the point I'm talking about in red.

 
1. Register  for Youtube   (back)
    - got to http://www.youtube.com/signup
    - fill out the form

2. Log in to Youtube.  (back)
        upper right of any page.

 3. Join TAOLB Group.   (back)
      go to http://youtube.com/group/taolb
      click Join This Group

you are now a member.

2. Post Comments to Group Page.    (back)

See the  bottom of the group page.  I've started new discussions, click on each discussion and add some comments. add new discussion topics as well. This is the most important section to make active so that the group gets in the most active section. This is the most important step for promoting the group.
Some topics for discussion   
   1. add your upcoming shows
   2. add suggestions
   3. give us feedback on the project.
   4. create new discussion topics.
   5. etc. etc.

 

5  Check back every couple of days and respond to comments others have left.  (back)

6.  Leave a comment at every video you view or visit.  (back)
  Click on each persons video,
  A. give it a star ratting.. preferably 5 star.
  B. post  short comment in the comment section.
  C. you can post a comment to your own video asking people to leave comments for you. Something like:
         Please leave a rating and comment for my video. thanks,   your name.

It will take some time for the posts/comments to show up since they need to be approved.
The approval is so that no spam is left.
You don't even need to view the entire video, you can sill rate and leave a comment. So just start clicking on each video and give it a rating and comment.

    Try it out by going to Rae's story - rate her story and leave a comment.
 
7. Check back on your own videos and respond to peoples comments

8. Ask your family and friends to leave comments on the home page and on the videos.

9.  Place a link to the TAOLB group page and to your own interviews from your website.    (back)
