Never Put Off. The instant lightning strikes, jump out of your chair and run and go do the poem or the story or the novel. Lying in bed, I've sometimes written part of a poem in my mind. That's always a mistake. You've got to run to the typewriter and get it down 'cause by the time you've imagined the whole poem -- at least in my case -- I can't remember the lines. |
