First Congregational Church of Berkeley (FCC) and the Progressive Values Project

This is the project page for working on our What Are Progressive Values? documentary with the FCCB.  We are interviewing FCCB members about their feelings, insights and personal stories about Progressive Values.   You can see an overview of the project on our Website ProgressiveSpirit.com.  Following  is an outline of our project proposal and some of the interviews we're already taped.  See my Bio and at the bottom of the page are links to more of my videos. Here are some different options for us working together with FCCB.

1. Simple Video Interviews

• We setup the video camera and FCCB members come by and I ask them about what they feel progressive values are. I ask them about personal stories of how they learned about those values, etc.
• We need a well natural lighted space at FCCB, with windows on 2 sides.
• We interview each person for 10-20 min.
• Stories are immediately placed on Youtube in the Progressive Values group.
• Some stories may find their way into our final Documentary.
   

2.  Detailed Stories - Interview Workshops

• For this we create image rich stories. Including art, photos, "b-roll", drawings, acting, etc. to help people tell their stories about Progressive Values.
• Need a meeting space for 4 hours x (2 or 3 days).  The interview workshop is spread out over 2 or 3 weeks. We interview 10 people at a time.
• Stories are edited together and  placed on Youtube in the Progressive Values group.
• Some stories may find their way into our final Documentary.

• Inspiration and The Art of Living Black  You can see our previous project where we interviewed 50 artist about their inspiration   Has 8 hours of video stories and 160 video clips. You can see individual artist stories.
• TAOLB: Artists Act Out Signs of Inspiration  A clip showing acting, art about the experience of inspiration.

Some other possibilities for working together.

3. Progressive Values Study Group

• We have started an online and in-person Progressive Values  study group to explore the topic.
• We now meet in El Cerrito with the El Cerrito Democratic Club, but Berkeley would be more central.  If FCCB was interested in holding discussion groups there, that would be another option..

4. Progressive Values Conference

• We thought of holding a small conference about Progressive Values and having speakers like George Lakoff, fellows from the Rockridge Institute, religious leaders, etc.  give talks. Maybe hold workshops, etc.
